Resurfacing

Plastic surgery and many nonsurgical anti-aging treatments can reduce lines and wrinkles and even correct sagging, but these procedures will not address superficial flaws. Dark spots, scars, broken capillaries, and similar issues can make you look older just as much as wrinkles. You need a unique solution to these problems. At Mirror Mirror Medical Aesthetics & Wellness, our medical aestheticians recommend skin resurfacing.

Age Jet Plasma

Age Jet Plasma technology is a cutting-edge skin regeneration treatment that stimulates collagen production and accelerates microcirculation by delivering plasma energy to a targeted area.

All skin types and tones can benefit from this treatment, which shrinks pores, tightens sagging skin, and makes hyperpigmentation less noticeable. AGE JET is the latest in skin resurfacing and rejuvenation treatments.

What It Treats

BBL®

BBL® (Broad Band Light) provides effective skin rejuvenation without surgery. It is accomplished by delivering pulses of light to the top layers of the skin. For a gentle, heat-based rejuvenation treatment, the BBL® device delivers a broad spectrum of light, not a focused wavelength like lasers. As a result of the heat delivered by BBL®, skin cells are repaired and regenerated, collagen is produced, redness is reduced, and discoloration is diminished.

What It Treats

MOXI®

MOXI® is a fractional laser, which means the laser is fractionated into several tiny beams instead of one large beam. Despite its power, this laser is gentle and effective. Using MOXI®, fractionated laser energy is delivered to the skin through micro-pulses. Micro-pulses cause controlled damage to skin cells by heating tiny columns in the skin.

As the body ages, it removes damaged cells containing pigment (which causes age spots on the skin) and other signs of aging and produces collagen, which helps the body regenerate new cells. It is safe to use MOXI® on all skin types, whether they are tanned by the summer sun or naturally darker.

What It Treats

FAQs

Skin resurfacing includes a range of treatments that remove the damaged outer layers of skin. It can be used for fine lines and wrinkles as well as dark spots, scars, and other flaws. When the damaged skin cells are removed, it reveals younger, healthier cells. The treatments also stimulate cell turnover for long-lasting results.

Some of the issues that our medical aestheticians treat with skin resurfacing are:

  • Fine lines
  • Mild to moderate wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Dark spots
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Enlarged pores
  • Some skin growths, such as skin tags and warts

Our Lumenis® AcuPulse CO2 skin resurfacing treatment not only clears your skin of superficial flaws, but it also stimulates collagen production for toning and tightening. This means that you can address several cosmetic concerns in a single treatment. Downtime is minimal, and the results can last for months or even years if you take good care of your skin and wear a high-quality sunscreen.

The Lumenis® M22 ResurFX™ system is another tool that we use for our skin resurfacing treatments. It allows our medical aestheticians to treat small areas of your face as well as all the skin if necessary. If you have isolated areas that you want to address, this may be the best option. The treatment remodels skin cells, eliminating flaws and revealing healthy, young skin cells.

For your skin resurfacing treatment, our medical aesthetician may apply a numbing cream to help you feel comfortable. The device is placed gently on your skin, and the skin rejuvenating energy is applied in short bursts. The sensation that you feel is similar to a small pinch on the skin. After the treatment, your skin may be slightly red and feel sensitive. You may also have some minor swelling.

If you have swelling or redness, it should only last the first 24 to 72 hours after the treatment. You can use nonprescription medications for any discomfort. Full results for our skin resurfacing treatments can take several days or weeks. You may notice some flaking skin, and this is perfectly normal. It shows you that the damaged skin cells are sloughing off to reveal healthy, young cells. We recommend that you avoid sunlight until your skin is healed and wear high-quality sunscreen when you do need to be outdoors.

Depending on your lifestyle and how well you care for your skin, the results of skin resurfacing at Mirror Mirror Medical Aesthetics & Wellness can last for six months or longer. We do recommend that you come back for an examination by our medical aestheticians to address any emerging issues that can make you look older.
